Peace

Peace...to me it's a figure of speech,
Although the block seems silent doesn't mean there's no drama throughout the streets;
A heart holds instruments of beats,
With drums at the highest volumes not even lowered by Peace;
Peace... an objective which continues unaccomplished,
With constant rates of change lowered by minor nonsense;
A symbol of hope structured through a mind set,
With a bandwagon of fans but the team still hasn't arrived yet;
Peace...which we prefer to be presentable,
A powerful symbol evident to be invincible;
An although it sounds convincing though,
I feel like it can't be changed so my thoughts of Peace I let them go;
Peace...presented in the inner,
Peace can be the mindset of winner;
A process not always taught when your a beginner,
But a thought of peace is always something to remember;
Peace...can my sidewalks have it,
If it was a basketball would any of us baller pass it;
A sign to increase,
I live for success but what's success without PEACE.

  1. You ask a powerful question in this poem: If it [peace] was a basketball would any of us ballers pass it? I love this idea and the image it creates in my mind of a Kobe-esque point guard actively deciding if he should pass the ball and share the glory or make it happen on his own. You are right...the same is true for peace. It can't be left up to one super star to make it happen, yet we aren't working together to get it done.

    Such an important question, WHICH IS WHY IT NEEDS A QUESTION MARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. i really like your line "a symbol of hope structured through a mind set/ with a bandwagon of fans but the team still hasn't arrived yet" and how it seems like you and other people want peace and know it's needed, but the change hasn't happened yet. peace seems like such a basic thing and its so frustrating to see how little of it there is sometimes. but, i think we can look to some of the great work people around us are doing for hope, and know that peace is possible even in small ways, and if everyone just puts in a little bit it can spread. you make a lot of great points in this piece, and just by thinking about these issues at all and putting them out there, you're making a difference in your own way
