They tell me…I have a chance to change history,
What can I cure? What should I change?
A culture trying to dig out of centuries of misery,
But when I look around my peers do the same,
We complain, but what battles cause stress?
Something we cannot tolerate,
A strive for success and being the best,
I just need to concentrate;
Loose words cause verbs combust from the speeches,
I’m unaware of the tragedies,
But I want to learn lessons that one day teaches,
The young to have better strategies;
For reasons I do not know I must take a stand,
And put my all on the line,
So all of us “useless young black males” can have a wave of showing hands,
On who made our culture better in time?
We are not who they say we are so even to our elders,
To this “Hard Knock Life” we will be the welders;
