Hey George! I'm Maya, a sophomore at Tufts University. I heard about your blog from your teacher, Ms. Delahanty, when she came to talk with my Education for Peace and Justice class. I'm really excited to read your entries!
ReplyDeleteJust so you know a little bit about me, I'm 19 years old and I'm from Sweden and Switzerland. I'm double majoring in Drama and Peace & Justice Studies, and I love it. It's so exciting for me to be studying exactly what I'm interested in. I plan on spending my life trying to make the world a better place, and theater, music and dance are the ways to do that that make sense to me.
It's awesome that you're so passionate about basketball - I'm a soccer player myself, so I understand the devotion to a sport. Keep playing - it'll keep you young, even when the world tells you you're old. It's cool that you performed in your talent show, and in front of so many people at UConn!! That's really impressive. I think my favorite point on that list though is when you said you want to be a psychiatrist one day if you don't play basketball professionally, even though you don't like them now. I'm also not the biggest fan of some of the psychologists and psychiatrists I've seen, but I know that there are people out there in that field that are amazing at what they do, and maybe one day you'll be one of them! It's a very noble dream to have, because in that profession you have the power to heal and improve people's lives in an individual, tangible way. Best of luck!!
I can't wait to read all your blog entries - I'm sure I'll learn a lot! Thank you so much for including me on your journey of your life :-)
